Lectures

Lectures are 50 - 60 minute presentations designed for group settings such as guild meetings or friendship group meetings. These lectures provide the quilter with information and ideas to kindle the creative processes of quilt-making.

A Little Girl’s Dream to Award-Winning Quilter
 From her Barbie doll quilt made at the age of 9, to her blue-ribbon winners, Marci shares her experiences using projects in various stages of completion. This down-to-earth presentation of some never-to-be-finished projects, some “maturing” projects, and of course those completed and being used items will encourage quilters of all levels to and satisfaction and joy in their projects.

Designs to Quilt By
 We all know that the quilt design affects our level of satisfaction at completion of a project. Deciding on the perfect quilting to accentuate the top is often a roadblock to finishing. This discussion covers the different types of quilting designs, the benefits and the limitations of each, and the considerations for hand, machine, or long-arm methods. Marci shares actual quilts as samples to explore various quilting designs.

Quantum Leap Quilting
 Tips and tricks, saving time, and still a perfect quilt!?! Marci shares a plethora of new ideas by identifying basic problems and sharing her solutions. You will not only know how something works, but WHY it works. This is an adaptive lecture customized to fit your group’s interest and direction. Subjects include: bindings, foundation piecing, pressing and trimming for perfect piecing, joining strips, rotary cutting for borders and bias strips, and many more.

Workshops

Marci’s creative and skillful knowledge presented with humor and an easy going style make all her workshops exciting and a great learning experience. Using her own innovative techniques to make traditional patterns without set-in seams, Marci focuses on the use of frustration free tools and techniques to help beginners and experienced quilters alike.

Taming the Tumbling Block
Now anyone can make a tumbling blocks quilt! Marci will share her simple, timesaving techniques, including how to select the perfect fabrics. Sew only straight (no inset!) seams to make this stunning optical illusion that is attractive to guys and babies alike.

 

 

Fabulously Easy Flower Garden
Throw away those templates and find another use for your scissors. With Marci’s easy methods you will learn how to create this beautiful quilt in a fraction of the time! Explore the creative options by choosing one of four sizes of hexagons. Even beginners will find these flowers within their reach!

Have you ever wished you could make a 6-pointed star quilt like the Seven Sisters but were totally overwhelmed at the thought? See how fast these traditional designs come together by using rotary cutting and Marci’s strip-piecing method, all without set-in seams! The possibilities for this quilt are endless just by changing the layout and color selections.

Top Secret Bindings
 Learn the newly discovered secrets to successful binding and you will be able to sew them with confidence. In this class we will explore the perils and pitfalls of binding. We will discuss bias, grain, widths of strips, mitering corners and smooth endings so that you can have judge-pleasing bindings.

Marci is available for quilt judging. She has judged events such as the Home Machine Quilting Show in Salt Lake City and Niteroi Patchwork Quilt Show in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Please contact us for availability, fees and other judging related information.
